“They helped me find my purpose.”

During David's childhood, he grew up around a lot of negative influences. This led to him becoming a "product of my environment."

“And it wasn't till I was about 40 that I had an epiphany and I and I I was just fed up with the lifestyle. I just wanted to change.”

Tired of battling addiction, David came to the Bread of Life Mission seeking a fresh start.

“My biggest challenge before coming to the bread of Life mission was overcoming my addiction,” David says. "I was living in Bremerton and I was staying with my mom and I was four days into a detox, like trying to quit. And I was really sick and nobody wanted to see me like that. So my mom started calling around for places that could take me in and help me and a better life. I took the ferry over that night and I've been here since November 19th. That phone call made by his mom led to David finding stability and sobriety at our mission.

“They they showed me how to deal with a lot of things - how to face things that I couldn't before.”

At a time when he didn’t know where to turn for help, David is grateful that the Mission was there for him. “They're giving me a job. They've they've made me family. They help me find myself & my purpose.” he says.

Through nightly chapel services at the Mission, David found hope in a challenging time of his life. “My relationship with God and Jesus is like 180° compared to how it was. I've always been a God-fearing, God-loving person. I just diligently seek a relationship with Him the right way.”

Thanks to the guidance of Mission staff, David got sober and was hired on at the Mission as our head chef! "Two weeks ago, I was volunteering cooking breakfast every morning from 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM and then going to work at 9:00 AM in Bremerton. And just recently, they hired me as their full time chef."

Your generous support has filled David’s life with love, encouragement, and most of all, hope. “Before I came to the Mission, I was lost. Since coming to the mission, I am saved.”
