Manuel

“The Mission helped me get back on my feet and never lose hope.”

Manuel is a hardworking man and a devoted father so, when he could no longer earn enough to cover his child support, he knew he needed to make a change. “I came to Seattle looking for a better-paying job to provide for my children. They’re my main concern,” he says.

Instead, he found himself in a strange city with no job and no place to call home. “When I got here, I found that employers were prejudiced when it comes to age. When you’re over 50, they don’t want to employ you. They push you aside,” he says. “And I found that a decent place to live was too expensive, so I wound up homeless.”

It was then Manuel came to the Mission as an Overnight Guest. “They provided me a place to sleep, a place to shower, meals, everything I needed,” he says.

“I was so thankful I didn’t have to sleep on the streets.”

With his physical needs met, Manuel was able to focus on getting back on his feet. “I knew I had a place to go every night so I didn’t have to worry. It was such a relief,” he says. “I finally found work and I’ve been able to pay my child support.”

Along the way, he’s also found spiritual and emotional support from our loving staff. “They’re good people you can always rely on. They have big hearts.”

Manuel plans to save money, find affordable housing and continue to provide for his beloved children. His future looks bright because of the Mission. “I thank the good Lord for this place,” he says.

It’s going to be a Christmas filled with joy for Manuel – and he is so grateful to you for this wonderful gift of a new life. “The Mission helped me get back on my feet and never lose hope.”
